Congress’ Ferozepur Jhirka MLA Mamman Khan, who was who was arrested in connection with the Nuh violence, was granted bail in two cases by a local court on Saturday. However, he will continue to remain in custody as there are two more FIRs registered against him, reports PTI.
Additional Sessions Judge Sandeep Duggal granted bail to the Congress legislator in two FIRs, one of which was the first case registered against him, and mentioned in the Punjab and Haryana High Court.
The court will hear his bail plea on October 3.
Khan’s counsel Tahir Hussain Dewla later said that the Congress leader was granted bail to the Congress leader in FIR numbers 149, 150, but Khan has not yet got bail in FIRs 137, 148 of Nagina police station.
Khan was arrested on September 15 and sent to 14-day judicial custody on September 19 in connection with the violence.
On July 31, a Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) -led religious procession was attacked by mobs in Nuh, that soon spread to neighbouring Gurugram. The death toll in the communal violence stood at six.
The Congress’s Haryana unit had alleged that its MLA was arrested due to a “political witch-hunt” and demanded a judicial probe into the Nuh violence under the supervision of a high court judge.
