Political strategist turned activist Prashant Kishor accused Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar of “touching the feet” of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to secure his own political survival, during a public meeting in Bhagalpur on Friday.
Kishor, who spearheads the ‘Jan Suraaj’ campaign, criticised Kumar’s actions at a recent NDA meeting in Delhi, saying they brought shame to Bihar.
“People ask me why I now criticise Nitish Kumar, having previously worked with him. He was a different man back then. His conscience had not been compromised,” said Kishor, who managed the JD(U) president’s election campaign in 2015 and formally joined the party two years later.
“The leader of a state is a source of pride for its people. But Nitish Kumar brought shame to Bihar when he touched Modi’s feet,” Kishor claimed.
In the recent Lok Sabha polls, Kumar’s JD(U) secured 12 seats, becoming the second largest ally of the BJP, which fell short of a majority.
“Much is said about Nitish Kumar playing a pivotal role in Modi’s return to power. But how is the Bihar CM using his influence? He is not using it to secure benefits for the state. He touches feet to ensure his political survival, with BJP support, even after the 2025 assembly polls,” Kishor alleged.
Kishor gained prominence in 2014 for managing Modi’s successful Lok Sabha campaign. By 2021, he had worked with various prominent politicians including Mamata Banerjee, Arvind Kejriwal, and Jagan Mohan Reddy.
