Navi Mumbai police have nabbed a suspect linked the alleged conspiracy to assassinate Bollywood actor Salman Khan, according to a PTI report. The suspect, identified as Sukha, was captured in Panipat, Haryana on Wednesday. He is set to be presented in court on Thursday after being transported to Navi Mumbai.
In June, the police revealed that they had uncovered a scheme targeting Khan when he would be travelling to his farmhouse near Panvel, Navi Mumbai. This revelation came after a shooting incident occurred outside his residence in Bandra, Mumbai, in April 2024.
Earlier this year, Khan informed the police that he believed the Lawrence Bishnoi gang was responsible for the shooting at his home, which he claimed was intended to harm him and his family. His account is included in the charge sheet submitted by Mumbai police regarding the case.
Khan also reported that in January 2024, two unidentified individuals attempted to break into his farmhouse using false identities. In 2022, a threatening letter was discovered on a bench near his building, and in March 2023, the Lawrence Bishnoi gang sent an email threat.
Police indicated that members of the Lawrence Bishnoi and Sampat Nehra gangs had assigned approximately 60 to 70 people to track Khan’s movements around his Bandra home, his Panvel farmhouse, and filming locations.
After receiving specific intelligence about the assassination plot, a case was opened against multiple individuals at the Panvel Town police station on April 24.
