A school bus with nearly 40 children onboard crashed into several vehicles, including a motorcycle, near Mayyar village in Haryana’s Hisar on Friday morning after its brakes reportedly failed.
The bus with students of Delhi Public School was speeding down National Highway 9 in heavy rains when the accident took place, NDTV reported.
The driver, unable to control the bus, rammed several vehicles, including a bike. Locals rushed the man riding the two-wheeler to a hospital where his condition was said to be critical.
According to the video of the incident, it can be seen that the school bus also hit a hatchback car and the impact of the crash pushed it under a moving truck. Fortunately, the truck was moving at a very slow pace, which allowed the occupants of the car – both women – to get out of the vehicle unscathed. The left side of the car was crumpled on impact.

However, none of the children on the bus were injured.
After the accident, an angry mob beat up the driver, alleging that he was drunk. However, school principal Manju Bala said that the driver wasn’t drunk and that he had himself rang her up to inform her of the accident, according to a report by the Hindustan Times.
Haryana education minister Seema Trikha has formed a committee under the supervision of Hisar district education officer (DEO) Pradeep Singh Narwal to probe the matter. Narwal said that the accident occurred due to brake failure, caused by rain.
