Narendra Modi will take oath as the Prime Minister at 6 PM on June 9, BJP leader Pralhad Joshi  revealed ahead of the Parliamentary meet of  the National Democratic Alliance (NDA). This will mark the beginning of his third stint as the country’s leader.

The Cabinet ministers are also likely to be sworn-in the same day.

Currently, a crucial NDA meeting is taking place in the central hall of Parliament, where top BJP leaders are expected to develop a formula for cabinet allocations. Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Bihar CM Nitish Kumar, Maharashtra CM Eknath Shinde, Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma, and other NDA leaders are present in the centrall hall of the Old Parliament building.

Following this, a delegation of NDA leaders led by Narendra Modi will meet with the President. These developments come amid tough negotiations with BJP’s allies over key positions in the Modi 3.0 Cabinet. The BJP secured 240 of the 543 Lok Sabha seats, 32 seats short of a majority and 62 fewer than its tally of 303 in the 2019 elections. This situation leaves the BJP reliant on its allies to form a government at the Centre, a challenge Modi has never faced in his career at the national level or as Chief Minister of Gujarat.
