After 19 successful Farmers’ Markets across the country, with local restaurants, dozens of avid home bakers and amateur chefs, wineries, organic produce and 100,000 plus visitors, Karen Anand and her team have chose the woods of The Westin Mumbai Garden City to kick off the markets for 2015 on January 11.

In the age of home gourmets, culinary adventures and a return to natural foods, finally a lifestyle market which is a source of exceptional Indian produce. The city’s foodies congregated to explore curated culinary experiences including cookery demonstrations by Master Chefs Kunal Kapoor and Chef Ajay Chopra- culinary consultant at The Westin Mumbai Garden City, met fresh and novel array of exhibitors from across the country and diverse spaces such as horticulture, kitchenware, artisanal cheese, home chefs, masalas, boutique food manufacturers, vegetable and fruit farmers and start up vendors who came together to offer a super gourmet shopping experience.

Executive chef Rahul Dhavale of The Westin Mumbai Garden City and his culinary team offered a variety of International and Indian delicacies. Guests participated in fun activities like the Weber Men’s cook-off at the Weber Barbecue picnic area and live music by Chris Fonceca and Mike Pereira of Strange Brew.

This Mumbai Farmers’ Market had a pop up by Olive Bistro and the Guppy pop up by Olive Bar & Kitchen, a unique Japanese restaurant ; The Asian Box from Pune showcasing street foods of Singapore; a host of Indian wineries like Sula, Reveilo, Rio’s fizzy wines, Charossa and Grover and many more. Juice Divine and Raw Pressery with their fruit and vegetable combos, tea companies Te-A-Me and Typhoo infusions, Waffle house with their popular waffles on a stick, Fantasie fine chocolates launching their range of bakery and patisserie; Frugurpop with gourmet popsicles, new to the market, Avanza avocados from New Zealand, Haute Chef with ready- made meal solutions, Pride of Cows for unadulterated cow milk, the Kingfisher bar and a foodie treasure hunt by the Mumbai Farmers’ Market team in Westin Woods.

Around 40 exhibitors were selling products from plants and kitchenware, meats and cheeses, new gourmet products, vegetables and fruit vendors and some of the city’s best bakers and dessert makers, selling their freshly baked breads, cakes, muffins, cupcakes, macaroons and other goodies.
