BMC Elections Party-wise Winners Full List: The BJP-led alliance with the Shiv Sena Eknath Shinde faction has emerged as the dominant force in the high-stakes Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections. The alliance effectively achieved its long-articulated “Mission Mumbai”. The BJP finished as the single-largest party, winning 89 of the 227 wards, while its ally, the Shiv Sena (Shinde), secured 29 seats.

Although the BJP fell short of the halfway mark of 114 seats on its own, the combined strength of the alliance places it in a comfortable position to form the civic administration and secure the mayoral post.

The Shiv Sena (UBT), which contested the elections in alliance with Raj Thackeray’s Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS), put up a strong fight but failed to cross the majority threshold. Notably, the Uddhav Thackeray-led faction ended with more than double the number of seats won by the Shinde-led Sena. However, the Thackeray brothers were together unable to halt the BJP-Shinde Sena combine, despite keeping the contest competitive until the final rounds of counting.

Polling across the state covered 2,869 seats in 893 wards spread over 29 civic corporations, including Mumbai’s 227 wards. As many as 15,931 candidates were in the fray, with 3.48 crore eligible voters participating. Notably, these are Maharashtra’s first civic elections since 2017. The term for the last elected body completed in 2022.
