A two-day event for Meri Mati Mera Desh-Amrit Kalash Yatra has been organised at Vijay Chowk starting October 30. The event will mark Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s birth anniversary. The Delhi Police has issued a traffic advisory ahead of the event.

The advisory mentions that there will be traffic regulations and diversions in place for the roads that lead to Vijay Chowk on Monday and Tuesday.

The restrictions will be in place from 9 in the morning to 9 in the evening and “whenever necessary”.

According to a post on X by the Delhi Traffic Police asked the citizens to follow the traffic advisory saying, “Traffic Advisory: In view of ‘Meri Mati Mera Desh-Amrit Kalash Yatra’ at Vijay Chowk on October 30 & 31, 2023, special traffic arrangements have been made.”

“Meri Mati Mera Desh-Amrit Kalash Yatra”: What is it?

The “Meri Maati Mera Desh Maha Abhiyan” is organising this Kalash Yatra nationwide with the intention of honouring the sacrifices made by the unkillable martyrs. The dirt from the birthplace of the immortal martyrs in Amrit Kalash is being transported to the National Martyrs Memorial in Delhi as part of this yatra. An ‘Amrit Vatika’ will be established in the vicinity of the National War Memorial as part of the Amrit Kalash Yatra by combining soil and plants from 7,500 urns located all around the nation, according to the official announcement. Launched on August 9th of this year, the statewide “Meri Maati Mera Desh” campaign is an homage to honour freedom fighters who gave their lives for the country.

Metro service

It is advisable for Metro riders to anticipate possible crowding on the Yellow and Violet lines. During boarding and disembarking, there will be a lot of people at the Sultanpur, Ghitorni, Qutab Minar, Central Sec, Guru Dronacharya, IFFCO Chowk, Arjan Garh, Udyog Bhawan, and Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium stations. It is important that people plan their travels appropriately.
