Meerut Murder: Another chilling murder from the western UP city has come to light after a post-mortem report revealed that a man, initially believed to have died from a snake bite, was actually strangled. His wife, now under investigation, allegedly tried to cover up the murder by faking the cause of death, The Times of India (TOI) reported.
25-year-old Amit Kashyap, alias Mickey, was found dead in his bed with a viper snake nearby, suggesting a snake bite as the cause of his death. However, when the post-mortem report came, it confirmed that he died due to strangulation.
The incident took place on Sunday morning in Meerut’s Akbarpur Sadat village in the Behsuma region.
Why did she kill Kashyap?
Kashyap’s wife, Ravita, has confessed during police interrogation that she was having an extramarital affair and had conspired with her lover, Amardeep, to murder her husband. According to police, Amardeep was also a friend of the victim.
She took the extreme step after her husband came to know about her affair with his friend, which often led to arguments between them.
Ravita, fed up with frequent disputes, decided to kill her husband.
Bought Rs 1,000 snake
She hatched a plan to use a snake, which she bought for Rs 1,000, to mask the murder. After strangling Kashyap, she placed the snake under his body to make it look like a case of fatal snake bite.
Video from the murder scene quickly went viral on social media, showing a snake curled up just next to Kashyap in his bed. A plate with food on it and a glass of milk are also kept next to Kashyap’s bed, apparently staged by Ravita to make it seem as though she had left him peacefully eating and resting the last time she saw him.
Since the snake got trapped under his body, it bit Kashyap several times after his death. Preliminary investigations into the case suggested that he died after the reptile bit him. It cited around ten snake bites. However, post-mortem raised doubts. When police questioned the duo, they confessed to the murder.
Earlier, the murder of a 29-year-old Merchant Navy Officer, Saurabh Rajput, rocked the city and the nation. Rajput was murdered by his wife, Muskan Rastogi, and her lover, Sahil Shukla. he was stabbed thrice in the heart on March 4, after which the duo cut his body into several odd pieces, placed them inside a blue drum and stuffed it with cement.
The duo, after killing Rajput, went on a holiday in Himachal Pradesh and misled the officer’s family by sending messages from his phone. They are in police custody.
The post-mortem revealed that the cause of death was due to shock and excessive bleeding.
