Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister and BJP leader Devendra Fadnavis denied any conflict over the Chief Minister’s post on Saturday, stating that the leaders of the Mahayuti alliance will make that decision. This comes as vote counting shows that the BJP-led coalition is headed for a big win.

Fadnavis spoke to the press, saying the election results show that the people of Maharashtra support Prime Minister Narendra Modi and thanked women voters. He added that the opposition’s attempts to spread false information and divide voters based on religion had been defeated by the public.

He also said that he was able to break through the opposition’s challenges with the help of voters, the BJP team and party leaders.

When asked about some BJP leaders calling for him to become the next Chief Minister, Fadnavis made it clear that there was no dispute over the position within the Mahayuti alliance (which includes the BJP, Shiv Sena and NCP). He said the leaders of these parties would decide who becomes the next CM.

Fadnavis also pointed out that the people of Maharashtra have shown support for the Shiv Sena led by Eknath Shinde, calling it the true Shiv Sena of Balasaheb Thackeray.

According to the latest vote trends, the BJP has won 10 constituencies and is leading in 120.
