Maharashtra, Jharkhand Assembly Elections 2024: Polling is currently underway in Maharashtra and Jharkhand for their respective state assembly elections. The counting of votes for both states will take place simultaneously on Saturday, November 23.

Maharashtra Election Voting Live Updates

In Maharashtra, voting will take place in a single phase for all 288 Assembly seats. The two primary contenders are the Mahayuti alliance—comprising the BJP, Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena, and Ajit Pawar’s NCP—and the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) alliance, which includes the Congress, Shiv Sena (UBT), and Sharad Pawar’s NCP faction. With 9.7 crore eligible voters, the state has seen 4,140 candidates file their nominations. Voting will be conducted at 1,00,186 polling stations across 52,789 locations, including 388 “pink booths” managed exclusively by women staff.

Jharkhand, which began its Assembly elections on November 13 with voting for 43 seats, will conduct polling for the remaining 38 seats in the second phase on November 20.

Here’s how to check your nearest polling booth

  • To locate your polling booth, visit the Election Commission of India’s voter services portal.
  • Enter your Electoral Photo Identification Card (EPIC) number in the “Know Your Electoral System” section
  • Input the captcha code and click “Search”
  • Details of your assigned polling booth will appear

On polling day, voters must carry either their Voter ID or any approved government-issued identification, such as an Aadhaar card. It is also advised to verify your name and details on the voters’ list beforehand to avoid any discrepancies.
