One of the conspirators in the killing of Sukhdev Singh Gogamedi, chief of Shri Rashtriya Rajput Karni Sena, was arrested in Jaipur.
Jaipur Police Commissioner Biju George Joseph said accused identified as Ramveer Jat, a native of Sureti Pilaniyan village of Mahendragarh district of Haryana, was arrested on Saturday, reports PTI.
Gogamedi was brazenly gunned down at his home in Jaipur on Tuesday by three men, alleged to have been identified as Nitin Fauji, Rohit Rathore and Naveen Singh Shekhawat. While Nitin and Rohit fled, Shekhawat was killed in retaliatory firing. The incident was captured on CCTV camera.
According to the police, Ramveer Jat had prepared the groundwork for Nitin Fauji, his friend, in Jaipur ahead of the killing.
After the incident, Ramveer Jat took to road with the duo on a motorcycle and got them on a Rajasthan Roadways bus ahead of Bagru toll plaza.
On Wednesday, a Special Investigation Team (SIT) was formed on Wednesday to probe the matter. Police have also announced a reward of Rs 5 lakh each for any tip-off on the attackers – Rohit Singh Rathore from Jusaria village in Makrana and Nitin Fauji from Haryana’s Mahendragarh.
FIR in Gogamedi’s murder has been lodged against Rohit Rathore and Nitin Fauji under IPC sections 302 (murder), 307 (attempt to murder), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 341 (wrongful restraint), 452 (house-trespass after preparation for hurt, assault), 34 (acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention), 120B (criminal conspiracy), 427 (mischief and thereby causes loss or damage to the amount of fifty rupees or more) as well as three sections each of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967, and Arms Act 1959, IE reported.
Gangster Rohit Godara, member of Lawrence Bishnoi gang, claimed responsibility for the murder through a Facebook post.
Minutes later the murder, Godara said on Facebook, “I am Rohit Godara Kapursari, brother of Goldie Brar. Today we take full responsibility for the murder of Sukhdev Gogamedi. He (Mr Gogamedi) used to back our enemies.”
