In a scathing attack on the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) government, BJP Jharkhand president and Dhanwar constituency candidate, Babulal Marandi, accused the JMM of widespread corruption and exploitation of the state’s resources over the last five years.

“There will be a transformation in Jharkhand. The JMM government has done nothing but loot the state over the last five years. The people of Jharkhand will not make the mistake of voting for corrupt leaders again. They’ve looted everything–sand, stones, coal, and land. Whether it’s land belonging to Adivasis or the army, they’ve left nothing untouched,” Marandi claimed.

Speaking at a rally, Marandi stated, “The people of Jharkhand are ready for change. Corruption has spread to such an extent that even government offices have become hubs for extortion. The JMM government has done nothing but plunder the state.” He further emphasized that the upcoming elections will be an opportunity for the people to oust corrupt leaders and bring about a transformation in Jharkhand.

The BJP, which announced its first list of 66 candidates for the upcoming assembly elections on Saturday, is contesting the polls in alliance with the All Jharkhand Students Union (AJSU), Janata Dal (United) (JD-U), and Lok Janshakti Party (LJP). The BJP will field candidates in 68 seats, while AJSU will contest in 10 seats, JD-U in 2 seats, and LJP in 1 seat.

Meanwhile, Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren confirmed that the INDIA bloc will contest the elections together, with the JMM and Congress fielding candidates in 70 out of the 81 seats. Discussions regarding the remaining seats are ongoing with other members of the INDIA alliance, including the RJD and Left parties.

The Jharkhand Assembly elections will be held in two phases, on November 13 and November 20, for all 81 seats.
