In a Reddit post that’s gaining attention among US study aspirants, a student from Delhi shared their smooth F-1 visa interview experience, revealing they were approved in just 40 seconds.
Scheduled at 9:30 am at Counter 13 of the US Embassy in Delhi, the student was asked a handful of direct questions by the visa officer (VO), ranging from academic plans to financial preparedness. The applicant, who is set to pursue a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and Linguistics at a US university, emphasized their interest in AI/ML and NLP and explained why they chose their specific university over admits from prestigious schools like the University of Michigan, UC Irvine, and UC Davis.
“The combination of CS & Linguistics is rare, and this university aligns with my research interests while offering a lower cost per credit,” they explained.
When asked about funding, the student shared details of an education loan and family assets. The VO then asked about the parents’ occupation before promptly approving the visa with a smile: “Congratulations, your visa has been approved.”
The student concluded their Reddit post with advice for future applicants: stay confident, avoid discussing employment plans, be financially prepared, and answer only what is asked.
