Haryana Election Results 2024 Live Updates: Exit polls get it wrong yet again
Exit polls predicting a Congress majority in Haryana and an edge for the National Conference in Jammu and Kashmir yet again proved wrong. Contrary to forecasts, the BJP secured 48 seats in Haryana’s 90-member assembly, clinching a record third consecutive term, while Congress won only 37 seats. Polls like C-Voter-India Today had projected Congress winning 50-58 seats and the BJP struggling to reach 30.
In Jammu and Kashmir, exit polls anticipated a National Conference-Congress alliance win with 40-48 seats, yet the alliance won 42 seats, while Congress only managed six.
Earlier this year, similar exit polls overestimated BJP's Lok Sabha seats, predicting over 350 but resulting in only 240 seats. These discrepancies highlight the challenges in accurately gauging voter sentiment through exit polls.
