Garhi Sampla-Kiloi Election Result Highlights: Congress heavyweight Bhupinder Singh Hooda wins by over 70,000 votes

Former CM and Congress candidate from Garhi Sampla-Kiloi, Bhupinder Singh Hooda, who defeated BJP's Manju Hooda and emerged victorious, said, "I have news that counting is stopped at several places. We are getting the majority...This is a game, the ball is sometimes here, sometimes there but we will do the final goal."

Bhupinder Singh Hooda is now comfortably ahead in the Garhi Sampla-Kiloi Assembly constituency after 11 rounds of voting. He is currently leading by over 56,000 votes and is far ahead of BJP candidate Manju Hooda.

Former CM Bhupinder Singh Hooda continues his lead over BJP's Manju by a margin of 22,182 votes after 4/17 rounds of counting, as per latest EC data.

Bhupinder Singh Hooda is leading by over 5,000 votes in Garhi Sampla-Kiloi. He is competing against Manju Hooda of BJP and Parveen of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP).

The Congress has taken a massive lead and has crossed the halfway-mark of 46 in Haryana, as per the initial trends. The grand-old party is leading in over 60 seats where BJP is far behind with lead on nearly 15 seats. Bhupinder Singh Hooda has also taken a lead in the Garhi Sampla-Kiloi constituency.

As the counting of postal ballots gets underway, Congress went further ahead in the early trends. Congress is now leading on 26 seats while has taken a lead in 19 in Haryana.

Very early trends, based on the counting of postal ballots, show Congress taking an early lead in 12 seats and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in 9 in Haryana.

Manju Hooda is the daughter of Pradeep Yadav, a retired deputy superintendent of police. She got married to Rajesh Hooda, who reportedly faces more than a dozen cases for multiple heinous crimes against him, according to media reports.

Rajesh Hooda got Manju to step into the political arena in 2022. She was first elected the councillor and later nominated as the Zilla Parishad chairperson. Then, she joined the Bharatiya Janata Party and got a ticket to contest from Garhi Sampla-Kiloi.

In the 2019 Haryana Assembly elections, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) emerged victorious, bagging 40 of the 90 seats. It formed the government in coalition with Dushyant Chautala-led JJP, which managed to win 10 seats, crossing the majority mark of 46. Meanwhile, the Congress party won 31 seats and the remaining were taken by INLD, Haryana Lokhit Party and Independent candidates.

However, before the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, the JJP severed its alliance with the BJP over seat-sharing talks. Manohar Lal Khattar resigned from the CM's post. Once again, the BJP formed its government with the support of a few Independents, with Nayab Singh Saini being sworn-in as the new chief minister of the state.

Haryana Congress veteran and Leader of the Opposition in the state, Bhupinder Singh Hooda, is a two-time chief minister and four-time MP.

Hooda, who served as the chief minister of Haryana between 2005 and 2014, has been campaigning aggressively this time around, with the hope of making a comeback in the northern state after two back-to-back defeats in 2014 and 2019 polls.

He has claimed that the major contest is between the ruling BJP and Congress while dismissing the challenges posed by the Arvind Kejriwal-led Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), the JJP-Azad Samaj Party alliance and INLD-BSP combined.
