Four individuals lost their lives as lightning struck them in separate incidents in Odisha’s Ganjam district, reported PTI.
The deceased were identified as Sanyashi Sahu, Lambodar Panigrahy, Sanjay Gouda from Ganjam district, and Dugun Pradhan from Khurda district.
Sahu and Pradhan, who sold toys at Pattapur, sought shelter near a tree during a thunderstorm and rainfall when lightning struck them on Sunday.
“We found them unconscious and rushed them to hospital at Digapahandi, where the doctors declared them dead,” said Ajay Kumar Swain, Inspector in charge of Pattapur police station.
Sandhyarani Singh, Inspector in charge of Badagarh police station, reported that lightning struck Panigrahy on Sunday. He was taken to Badagarh Hospital, where he was pronounced dead by the doctors.
The lightning struck Sanjay Gouda near his village on Sunday. He was rushed to the sub-divisional hospital in Hinjili, where doctors also declared him dead, as confirmed by Srinibash Sethi, Inspector in charge of Hinjili police station.
