Vikram Misri, the foreign secretary of India, is briefing the parliamentary committee put up in the aftermath of the Pahalgam terror attack that led to Operation Sindoor.
India initiated Operation Sindoor on Pakistan’s terrorist infrastructure following the terror attacks in Pahalgam on April 22. The strikes from India escalated military actions between the two neighbouring countries. Later on May 10, a ceasefire understanding was reached between India and Pakistan, which was, however, violated briefly by Pakistan just a few hours later.
Parliamentary Panel
The multi-party parliamentary committee was set up by the Centre in the aftermath of Operation Sindoor and the subsequent ceasefire understanding. It was decided that the delegation would be led by Congress MP Shahshi Tharoor. The all-party delegation will visit 33 nations to brief their global leaders on India’s resolve to deal with terrorism and set the record straight on Pakistan’s terror links.
In today’s meeting, the panel will be briefed on the current foreign policy development regarding India and Pakistan. The briefing is likely to take place today as well as tomorrow, PTI reported.
The committee on water resources, chaired by BJP’s Rajiv Pratap Rudy, is also scheduled to be briefed by officers of various government departments on issues such as flood scenarios, protection of river banks, soil erosion, relief measures during monsoon, including rivers flowing across the border.
