The Rouse Avenue court in Delhi on Tuesday extended the judicial custody of former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia until December 11. Sisodia is facing allegations and is implicated in a money-laundering case associated with purported irregularities in the excise policy, and has been in custody since his arrest by the CBI on February 26.
He was later arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on March 9 this year.

During the hearing, the court noted the pending submission of several documents by the Enforcement Directorate concerning the accused persons. The court expressed discontent and urged swift compliance with Section 207 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC) by the lawyers in order to start the trial as soon as possible.
On October 30, the Supreme Court denied bail to Sisodia in the case. The court referenced “material and evidence” tentatively supporting charges under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA). Allegations indicated that 14 wholesale liquor distributors accrued “excess profit” of Rs 338 crore within about 10 months under the now-defunct excise policy.

On November 10, a Delhi court granted Sisodia permission to meet his ailing wife for six hours between 10 am and 4 pm. He remains an accused in a money-laundering case associated with alleged excise policy irregularities.
According to the CBI, Sisodia is purportedly the primary figure in the criminal conspiracy. He allegedly played a significant role in both formulating and implementing the policy, furthering the objectives of the alleged conspiracy.
