After heavy rain lashed parts of Delhi on Saturday, the IMD has predicted a generally cloudy sky with moderate rain on Sunday. The meteorological department further said the maximum and minimum temperatures are expected to range between 32°C and 26°C respectively.

The downpour on Saturday caused significant disruptions to morning traffic which led to waterlogging in various areas of the city. According to reports, the Public Works Department (PWD) reported receiving 20 complaints of waterlogging throughout the day, while the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) received five similar complaints, along with reports of uprooted trees.

The rain, which primarily affected east, south, and western parts of Delhi, led to severe traffic jams, particularly on Rohtak Road, the highway connecting Delhi to Haryana. The Delhi Traffic Police issued an advisory on X, warning commuters to avoid the Mundka area due to waterlogging and potholes. Traffic on Ring Road was also affected, with waterlogging reported near Khyber Pass, causing delays in the carriageway from IP College towards Mall Road.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) reported that the maximum temperature in Delhi on Saturday settled at 32.8°C, slightly below the seasonal average, while the minimum temperature was 25.8°C, 1.2 degrees below normal. The Ridge observatory recorded 22.8 mm of rainfall between 2:30 pm and 5:30 pm, contributing to the city’s traffic woes.

Despite the downpour, the city’s air quality remained in the “satisfactory” category, with an average Air Quality Index (AQI) of 71, according to the Central Pollution Control Board.
