The Delhi Police have booked the CEO of a private company based in the capital on charges of allegedly raping a non-resident Indian (NRI) woman employed in his office, police said on Sunday.
The incident dates back to September 14, 2023, which occurred at a five-star hotel in Delhi’s Chanakyapuri area, PTI reported.

On Saturday night, an FIR was filed in the case under Section 376 (rape) of the Indian Penal Code at Chanakyapuri police station, following a complaint lodged by a US citizen of Indian origin.
The complainant, serving as an assistant general manager at the Delhi-based firm where the accused held the position of CEO, claimed that the man had a connection to her uncle and helped her in getting the job.

A senior police officer, who refused to be named, told The Indian Express, “She told us that she met the accused at a five-star hotel in the Lutyens area on September 14 last year. She alleged that he raped her.”
“As per the received complaint, she was working as the assistant general manager of the firm, while the accused was the CEO. Both the complainant and accused are known to each other previously. The man is a friend of the woman’s uncle and helped her in getting the job,” said Additional DCP (New Delhi) Ravi Kant Kumar.
The police said that investigations are in progress and legal action will be taken based on the available evidence.
