The Delhi Budget for 2025–2026 is expected to be presented between this month by March 24 and 26.This will be the BJP’s first budget for the capital following their electoral victory last month. Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Sunday stated that her government was inviting public suggestions to help prepare the upcoming budget. She highlighted that the budget would focus on developing Delhi in line with the promise made during the election.

What to expect from the Delhi Budget 2025?

The Delhi government is focused on prioritising several key areas in the upcoming budget, including senior citizen welfare, cleaning the Yamuna, fulfilling commitments to public welfare programs and providing affordable, nutritious food to the underprivileged.

Chief Minister Rekha Gupta also highlighted the active involvement of the public in shaping the budget. Over 5,000 women from various associations have been invited to the Delhi Assembly to offer their feedback. “On March 6, we invited individuals from sectors such as education, rural development, farmers, and youth across the city to submit written recommendations to the Delhi Vidhan Sabha. Additionally, our MLAs will be visiting communities, including those in unauthorized colonies, to gather input from all groups,” she stated.

On March 6, the Chief Minister held an interactive session with traders, businessmen, and business organizations to gather their suggestions for the upcoming budget. Business representatives from across the city discussed critical issues facing the business community.

The Chamber of Trade and Industry recently made several recommendations, including converting industrial areas such as Bawana, Bhorgarh, Jhilmil, and Badli from leasehold to freehold. 

They also urged for corrections to discrepancies in circle rates, especially in Narela, and for rationalizing electricity rates in Delhi’s industrial areas, which are higher than in neighboring states. Additionally, they proposed the creation of a separate warehouse policy for Delhi.
