The Congress party has removed Yunus Chaudhary as its district president in Baghpat after a video, allegedly showing him in a compromising position, surfaced on social media, according to party officials.

Chaudhary contends that the footage was manipulated by political adversaries as part of a targeted smear campaign against him. The video purportedly depicts Chaudhary engaging in inappropriate conduct with a woman.

Baghpat Superintendent of Police Arpit Vijayvargiya stated that no formal complaint has been filed in relation to the incident. “If a complaint is filed, appropriate legal action will be taken according to the law,” he said, PTI reported.

Speaking to PTI, Congress state spokesperson Abhimanyu Tyagi confirmed Chaudhary’s removal following discussions with state president Ajay Rai. “I spoke to State President Ajay Rai, who confirmed that Yunus Chaudhary has been removed from his post as the district president of Baghpat,” he said.

The video emerged on Friday, prompting swift action by party leaders, Tyagi added. While the prospect of Chaudhary’s expulsion from the party remains uncertain, Tyagi noted that the party leadership will make a decision soon.

Attempts to contact Chaudhary were unsuccessful as he did not respond to calls. However, in a social media statement, Chaudhary asserted the video was part of a “political conspiracy,” alleging that rivals edited and circulated it to tarnish his reputation.
