Union Minister Chirag Paswan was re-elected as the president of the Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) for the next five years during the party’s national executive meeting on Sunday. The decision was made unanimously, Paswan announced at the meeting.

Paswan, who is also the Minister of Food Processing Industries, mentioned that the upcoming assembly elections in Haryana, Jammu & Kashmir, and Jharkhand were discussed. In Jharkhand, the party is considering contesting either with its national alliance partner BJP or independently. Paswan stated that the Lok Janshakti Party plans to field candidates in 28 out of the 81 seats in the Jharkhand assembly election.

In the 2019 Jharkhand assembly election, the LJP contested 50 seats but did not win any. The party had competed without any alliance during that election.

The Jharkhand unit of LJP has already sent a list of seats to the party’s high command, indicating preparations to contest 28 seats in the upcoming election. This decision highlights the party’s strategic planning and renewed efforts to gain a foothold in Jharkhand politics.
