Chhattisgarh election 2023: Chhattisgarh goes to polls in two phases – on November 7 and 17. The counting of votes is scheduled on December 3. The Congress is yet to release its manifesto for the Assembly polls but has already announced 17 guarantees, including loan waiver for farmers and caste census. Along with that the party has also promised agricultural landless labourers will be given Rs 10,000 per year in place of the existing Rs 7,000, if it comes to power for a second term in the state.
The 17 guarantees promised by Congress party in Chhattisgarh:
- Rs 500 subsidy per gas cylinder for women
- Free electricity up to 200 units
- Loans taken under women self-help groups and Saksham scheme will be waived off
- To establish 700 new rural industrial parks
- All government high and higher secondary schools will be upgraded to Swami Atmanand English and Hindi schools
- Free treatment for road or any such accidents.
- Outstanding motor vehicle tax and penalty worth Rs 726 crore till 2018 of more than 6,600 vehicle owners associated with the transport business will be waived
- “Tivara” to be procured by government at Minimum Support Price (MSP)
- Farmers’ loans will be waived off
- Procure paddy from farmers at 20 quintals/acre
- Caste census will be conducted
- Homes to be built for 17.5 lakh poor families
- Free education from KG to PG, also medical and engineering.
- Rs 4000 bonus annually to “tendu patta” collecting families.
- Additional Rs 10/kg on MSP of minor forest produce
- Free treatment up to Rs 10 lakh for poor families and up to Rs 5 lakh for APL families.
- Rs 10,000 will be given annually to landless farmers, under Mazdoor Nyay Yojana
In 2018, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi had released the Congress party’s manifesto titled ‘Jan Ghoshna Patra’. The promises by the Congress government included: Farmers’ loans to be waived, MSP for paddy at Rs 2,500 per quintal and maize at Rs 1,700 per quintal, monthly stipend to 10 lakh unemployed youth under the ‘Rajiv Mitr Yojana’, minimum support price (MSP) on 70-85 forest crops, fixing Rs 4,000 per bag for ‘tendu patta’ workers, among others.
