Chennai: Woman’s chopped-up body recovered stuffed in suitcase, suspect held

A woman’s chopped up body was discovered in a suitcase after a local resident reported blood dripping from it, police said on Thursday.

The victim has been identified as Deepa, a resident of Madhavaram. The discovery came to light when a Kumaran Kudil resident alerted police around 5.30 am about the abandoned suitcase in the Thoraipakkam area, India Today reported.

Authorities recovered the body and have sent it for a postmortem examination. Meanwhile, a man identified as Mani, who lives approximately 100 metres from the site where the suitcase was found, has been detained in connection with the incident.

Police have also obtained CCTV footage from the area, and further investigations are ongoing.
