A 47-year-old man, identified as V Nagaraj, died by suicide at his residence in Raghuvanahalli, near Kanakapura Road, Bengaluru, police said. The incident happened on Wednesday while Nagaraj’s wife, Vinutha, was away at work, leaving behind a WhatsApp message.
This incident has been further marred by allegations of atrocities levelled by Vinutha against two police officials.

According to the police, Nagaraj was employed as a document verification officer at a private firm. His name had surfaced in connection with a police complaint filed by an individual named Nataraj at Vyalikaval police station, relating to a loan dispute.
On the preceding Tuesday, Vyalikaval Police Inspector M C Eeregowda had summoned Nagaraj to the police station, where he purportedly subjected him to verbal abuse and physical assault.

In the wake of Nagaraj’s demise, Vinutha has lodged a formal complaint at the Thalaghattapura police station. The complaint specifically names Nataraj, Eeregowda, and Shivakumar from Hennur police station, who were mentioned in Nagaraj’s suicide note.
In this note, Nagaraj disclosed that he was burdened by a debt of Rs 9 lakh owed to an individual named Devaraj, with Shivakumar having received Rs 8 lakh.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central) Shekhar H Tekkannavar confirmed to the media that a case has been registered at the Thalaghattapura police station. He emphasised, “We are diligently investigating the circumstances surrounding Nagaraj’s questioning and will take appropriate actions as we gain a comprehensive understanding of the situation.”
