The swearing-in ceremony of Telugu Desam Party (TDP) chief N Chandrababu Naidu as the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh has been deferred to June 12 from the earlier schedule of June 9.
This likely postponement allows Naidu to attend caretaker Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s swearing-in ceremony on June 8 in New Delhi.
According to TDP spokesperson K Pattabhi Ram, the reason behind this development is to avoid Naidu’s rushed return to Amaravati after attending the ceremony in New Delhi. The TDP chief has also invited several BJP leaders to his swearing-in ceremony in the state capital.
“He will be sworn in most likely on June 12. Chandrababu will be in Delhi on June 7 for the NDA parliamentary party meeting and will attend the swearing-in on June 8. He will return to Amaravati a day after that and will be sworn in on June 12,” Pattabhi Ram said, as per The Indian Express.
Several newly elected TDP MLAs and MPs are scheduled to meet Naidu at his Undavalli residence on Thursday. Naidu will also conduct meetings with senior IAS and IPS officers, with security around his residence being notably increased.
In a bid to maintain peace, Naidu, along with other TDP leaders and Pawan Kalyan, has appealed to their supporters to avoid any kind of altercations with YSRCP supporters. This appeal comes after alleged incidents where TDP and JSP supporters removed YSRCP flags and symbols from several sites.

Meanwhile, Jana Sena Party (JSP) chief K Pawan Kalyan, elected to the Assembly for the first time, will accompany Naidu to New Delhi. In view of the recent poll results, senior TDP leaders have requested the police to maintain a vigilant presence at the secretariat in Amaravati and other government offices to safeguard against the destruction of documents and records.
The TDP-led NDA secured a landslide victory in the Assembly elections, clinching 164 seats, while the YSRCP was reduced to just 11 seats. The TDP alone won 135 seats, with the JSP securing 21 and the BJP 8 seats. In the simultaneously held Lok Sabha elections, the TDP won 16 seats, the BJP 3 , and the JSP 2 seats, while the YSRCP managed to secure 4 seats.
