Akbaruddin Owaisi has emerged victorious in the Chandrayangutta constituency for five consecutive elections from 1999 to 2018. In 2019, he was appointed as the Chairman of the Telangana Public Accounts Committee. Counting in the Sircilla constituency began at 8 AM. The results were declared after the completion of 23 rounds of counting.

AIMIM candidate Mohammed Akbaruddin is leading by a substantial margin of 48,551 while BRS candidate Muppi Seetharaman Reddy is trailing with 7716 votes as of 4:01 PM in round 12 of 23.

In the 2018 Telangana assembly elections, Akbaruddin Owaisi of AIMIM party secured victory in the Chandrayangutta constituency with 95,339 votes (67.96%), defeating his nearest BJP rival Shahejadi Sayyad, who garnered 15,075 votes (10.75%). Meanwhile, M. Seetha Ram Reddy of the BRS secured the third position with 14,224 (10.14%) votes, followed by Esa Bin Obaid Misri of the Congress party, who secured 11,309 (8.06%) votes. The 2018 Telangana elections witnessed BRS winning 88 seats, Congress securing 19 seats, while the BJP secured just one seat.
