Prime Minister-designate Narendra Modi began the day of his swearing-in ceremony with a visit to Rajghat, the memorial to Mahatma Gandhi, where he paid homage to the Father of the Nation.
Modi, who is set to embark on his third consecutive term as prime minister, is scheduled to take his oath of office, along with his Council of Ministers, administered by President Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhawan at 7.15 PM.
It is expected that several allies, including the TDP, JD(U), and Shiv Sena, will have representation in the coalition government.
Following his tribute at Rajghat, Modi also honoured stalwart BJP leader and former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee at his memorial ‘Sadaiv Atal’.
Vajpayee, the inaugural BJP prime minister, is revered for his pivotal role in the party’s ascendancy in national politics, alongside Lal Krishna Advani.
A considerable number of supporters were present as the prime minister-designate visited these monuments.
He also paid his respects at the National War Memorial, dedicated to soldiers who have made the ultimate sacrifice for the nation.
