The Delhi Police has issued a traffic advisory on restrictions that will be put in place near India Gate for four days for the Republic Day parade rehearsals, as per officials.

What does the advisory say?

The route of the parade is Vijay Chowk- Kartavya Path upto ‘C’ Hexagon.

The advisory states that the rehearsals will be held on Kartavya Path on Saturday, Sunday, Monday and Tuesday from Vijay Chowk to the India Gate. The restrictions are meant to facilitate uninterrupted movement of parade on Kartavyapath. Traffic movement will be restricted at Kartavyapath-Rafi Mar Crossing, Kartavyapath-Janpath Crossing, Kartavyapath-Man Singh Road Crossing and Kartavyapath-C-Hexagon, from 7 am to 12 pm.

Kartavya Path from Vijay Chowk to India Gate will also remain closed for traffic. Additionally, the Man Singh Road, Janpath, Maulana Azad Road, the Rail Bhawan roundabout, Rajendra Prasad Road, Windsor Place roundabout, Sunheri Masjid roundabout, Rafi Marg, MLNP roundabout, MLNM, Q Point, C-Hexagon, Jaswant Singh roundabout and Ashoka Road will also remain heavy at the time of rehearsal.

Post the rehearsal, the Sardar Patel Marg and Dhaula Kuan road will be used by contingents to reach their designated places, hence, there will be heavy traffic on Akbar Road, Tuglak Road, Bhinder Point, Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Road, SPM, R/A Gole Methi, R/A GKP, RTMH, Teen Muti Marg and adjoining areas.

Due to this, traffic will be diverted and congestion is expected to be seen on all these roads, as per the Delhi Traffic Police.

The advisory requested motorists to follow traffic rules and traffic police’s directions. It further requested people to plan their journey to avoid inconvenience.
