The Arunachal Pradesh government has planned to construct a road along the “India-Tibet-China-Myanmar” border and to connect the remotest part of the state. It will be as close as 20 km from the Line of Actual Control (LAC) and the international borders.

Length and Cost of Highway:-

The total length of the road will be 1,500 km and will be known as Frontier Highway. The state administration will also construct an additional 1,000 km road to boost connectivity in the region. The entire project will cost around Rs 40,000 crore.

Significance of Frontier Highway:-

On completion, the Frontier Highway will have a huge strategic value. The project will bring mega changes in road connectivity in the state. It will also stop migration from border areas and thus bring development to the doorsteps of the people living in remote villages.Frontier Highway to connect THESE cities:-

The Frontier Highway will connect high density populated areas with the state capital and important places such as Tawang, Mago Upper Subansiri, Upper Siang, Mechuka, Tuting, Dibang Valley, Kibithoo, Changlang and Dong.

The highway will start from Bomdila and pass through Nafta, Huri, and Monigong, which is closer to the LAC or the McMahon Line. It will end in Vijaynagar, near the Indo-Myanmar border.

Frontier Highway construction plan:-

The state government’s prestigious project will connect the 1,811-km-long Trans-Arunachal Highway (under construction) linking Tawang in north-western tip to Kanubari in south-eastern end of the state. It finally ends at the National Highway (NH)-52 near Akajan, close to Bogibeel bridge near Dibrugarh in Assam. It will come up adjacent to Yangtse.

Road project to be beneficial for Army

Both the road projects will prove to be beneficial for the army as well as for the common man. The project will provide seamless movement of the armed forces and equipment to the border areas.
