UK visa fee hike will have a direct impact on students and skilled workers in the United Kingdom. Significant changes have been made in the UK, particularly to the way visa fees are calculated. Visitors who want to study in the UK, especially Indians, are expected to be impacted by these developments. Students and visitors visiting the UK now have to consider additional costs due to a noticeable increase in visa fees.
From October 4, the cost of family, settlement, and citizenship visas has gone up by 20%, while the cost of work and visitation visas has risen by 15%.
“The United Kingdom Visas and Immigration (UKVI) has implemented modifications to their visa fees, which at first glance may appear to be an increase in fees. The increased tuition is not just an economic adjustment, it is also an investment in your education and the community you will join. These reforms are a component of a larger initiative to strengthen the United Kingdom’s public sector services. This improves the quality of life for students while they are in the United Kingdom. From healthcare facilities to transport services, these enhancements will make your study abroad experience not only academically rewarding but also comfortable and fulfilling on a daily basis”, says Gaurav Batra, CEO at Infinite Group.
The visa fee for students, including those with children and dependents, has increased from £363 to £490, a 35% increase. However, there hasn’t been a rise in the visa fee for short-term courses where students learn the language for more than six months but no longer than eleven months.
The visa fee has gone up from £479 to £551, a 15% rise, for skilled workers in shortage occupations where a certificate of sponsorship has been given for three years or less. If the sponsorship certificate has been in effect for more than three years, a 15% increase in the visa fee, from £943 to £1,084, applies.
“Despite the UK visa fee hike, Indian students are resilient and determined. They will continue to pursue their dreams of studying in the UK, showing that nothing can deter their passion for education and a brighter future,” says Rohit Sethi, Director, ESS Global.
Students who want to study abroad now face a complicated web of options and obstacles as a result of the UK’s revised immigration fees. It takes careful planning, careful evaluation of one’s academic and financial goals, as well as a complete awareness of the repercussions to navigate these changes. To make wise choices about their study abroad experiences, students must stay aware of these dynamic transitions and seek advice.
