US President Donald Trump’s latest executive order has sparked major concerns in the tech industry and among H-1B visa holders.

The order introduces a $100,000 fee for companies applying for H-1B visas to hire foreign workers, which has caught many by surprise and raised a lot of questions.

One Indian national, who had spent seven years studying in the U.S., shared his story on social media about how this new rule is now leaving his future uncertain.

After getting his H-1B visa approved, he was ready to return to the U.S. but is now stuck due to this new proclamation, unsure about what to do next.

What does the post explain?

An Indian man, who had been studying in the US for seven years, got his H-1B visa approved this year and travelled to India to get it stamped after his student visa expired in August 2025.

He had planned to head back to the US this week and start his new job. But a recent government proclamation has left him stuck in India, unable to return and uncertain about his future.

In his post, he expressed his frustration, saying, “This is killing all hopes to return,” and shared the tough situation he is facing.

With his belongings still in the US, furniture, personal items, and ongoing rent payments, he is not sure what to do about it all.

While he has friends who can help pack up his things, the idea of figuring out how to sell, ship, or dispose of his belongings from across the world has become an overwhelming task.

‘We all are in the same boat’

Netizens also posted their concerns about their own H-1B visa status on the post. A user noted, “I’m on same boat. I have been in USA for 10 years. Came to India for family emergency.”

Another claimed, “Same here been in US for 10 years currently on third H1B term with I-140 approved… supposed to leave tomorrow as per my travel schedule. But now in limbo.”

A user noted, “In same boat, came for stamping and can’t return untill I get the stamp..no idea what to do.” “We are also stuck in India . Have valid h1b visa , but could not get any flight that can reach before 12 am 21st Sep,” added another.

“I wish all the folks in this limbo all the best but look at the top H1B visa companies.. all are aligned to POTUS and don’t want to swim against the Trump current, rather comply and they will. It was said by Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick that they’ve already talked to the companies.. Amazon, TCS, MS, Meta, Google, CTS, JPMC and others.. they will all follow suit to keep peace with the administration,” opined another user.
