Good news for Kolkata Metro commuters! The city’s rapid transit system has introduced another passenger friendly initiative on-board. The move will make the journey entertaining for both kids as well as the rider. It will also help the metro commuters to get rid of the monotony of travelling and enjoy the journey.

New Initiative of Kolkata Metro:-

The country’s oldest metro network is tirelessly working to enhance passenger experience. In this context, the metro railway has started showing infotainment materials like cartoon shows on the digital display screens. In metros, the display screens used to show station names and route maps o­nly.

On which routes does this new facility available?

As of now, the passengers travelling on the North-South corridor will be able to enjoy this new infotainment material. The North-South corridor (Blue Line) has 26 stations. These are Kavi Subhash, Shahid Khudiram, Kavi Nazrul, Gitanjali, Masterda Surya Sen, Netaji, Mahanayak Uttam Kumar, Rabindra Sarobar, Kalighat, Jatin Das Park, netaji Bhavan, Rabindra Sadan, Maidan, Park Street, Esplanade, Chandni Chowk, Central, Mahatma Gandhi Road, Girish Park, Shobhabazar Sutanuti, Shyambazar, Belgachia, Dum Dum, Noapara, Baranagar and Dakshineswar.

Significance:-

The kids will entertain themselves as they would get an opportunity among their packed schedule to spend some time with Tom and Jerry o­n the way back home from school. This will also help the parents to distract their mobile phones from the kids. It would also help the adults to soothe their frayed nerves. 

Cleanliness drive at stations:-

As part of ‘Swachhta Pakhwada’, the Metro Railway has launched intensive cleaning and sanitization drives at stations, trains, colonies, hospitals and other railway establishments. It also raises awareness through the Public Address System among the passengers about the importance of cleanliness in our life.
