The Kolkata Metro announced on Friday that it will run eight additional trains along the Dakshineswar-New Garia corridor on August 18 morning to facilitate applicants’ smooth travel for the West Bengal Civil Service (WBCS) examinations.

The Metro officials operate 130 trains on other Sundays.

On August 18, instead of August 9 on previous Sundays, sixty-nine pairs of trains will run along both up and down lines on that day. The trains will depart from Dumdum in the north and New Garia in the southern portion of the state at 7 AM.

The first train to Kavi Subhas will depart Dakshineswar at 7:15 a.m. rather than 9 a.m.

Eight services (four up and four down) will be offered on this stretch on that day from 7 to 9 a.m., every 30 minutes.

On August 18, exams for WBCS (Executive) and WBCS (Main) will take place.

Notedly, Kolkata Metro Railway on Thursday declared that it would continue to operate normally today, the day when SUCI (C) party called for a 12-hour nationwide strike. According to a statement, metro authorities are making all the necessary preparations to ensure that services along the Dakshineshwar-New Garia, Joka-Majerhat, Howrah Maidan-Esplanade, Sealdah-Sector Five, and New Garia-Ruby More corridors operate normally from 6 am to 6 pm (12 hours), to ensure that commuters experience no inconvenience.
