The government on Wednesday (March 13) approved two new Metro rail corridors in Delhi-NCR. According to the announcement made by Union Minister Anurag Thakur at a Cabinet briefing, the two new corridors will link Lajpat Nagar to G Block in Saket and Inderlok to Indraprastha. 

It was revealed that the two corridors of Delhi Metro Phase-IV will have a total project cost of Rs 8,399 crore. The combined length of both corridors will be around 20 kilometers. These two lines will comprise 20.762 km.

Delhi Metro’s new lines details

The Union Minister informed that the 8.4 km metro line from Lajpat Nagar to Saket G Block will have eight stations, while the line from Inderlok to Indraprastha will be 12.4 km long and will have 10 stations.

“Today two new metro corridors have been given permission, on which Rs 8400 crore will be spent. There will be about 8.4-kilometer metro line from Lajpat Nagar to Saket G Block. It will have eight stations. The second is from Inderlok to Indraprastha, this will be a metro line of about 12.4 kilometres. It will be completed by March 2029..,” said Anurag Thakur.

The Inderlok – Indraprastha corridor, an extension of the Green Line, will offer interchange facilities with the Red, Yellow, Airport Line, Magenta, Violet, and Blue Lines. Meanwhile, the Lajpat Nagar- Saket G Block corridor will link the Silver, Magenta, Pink, and Violet Lines.
