San-Francisco based cab-hailing giant Uber has rolled out cash payment option in Bengaluru and Delhi as well, bringing the tally to 23 such cities where Uber accepts cash. Further, the company said it will also abolish surge pricing usually charged during peak hours in Delhi and Bengaluru from 7:00 am to 9:00 pm.

“We’re thrilled to enable cash as a payment option for our riders today, especially on a day (strike) when commuters across India might find it difficult to get around in their cities. With cash as another payment option, riders have more choice in terms of payment, in order to help them move easier from point A to point B,” said Bhavik Rathod, GM, Uber Bangalore.

Mumbai is the next city where Uber plans to roll out cash payment option, the only market where this service is not available.

“We’re launching cash on Wednesday to ensure all commuters have access to a safe, reliable and hassle-free ride. We are deeply committed to keep cities moving and we’re working tirelessly with our driver partners to ensure that there are enough Ubers available at the push of a button and no commuter is stranded,” said Gagan Bhatia, GM, Uber Delhi

The following are the cities where cash payment is allowed with Uber — Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Bhubaneswar, Chandigarh, Chennai, Coimbatore, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Indore, Jaipur, Kochi, Kolkata, Mysore, Nagpur, Nashik, New Delhi, Pune, Surat, Thiruvananthapuram, Vadodara, and Visakhapatnam.
