Tata Power registered exponential growth in its renewable energy business in the first quarter of the financial year 2025-26. The company saw 112 percent year-on-year growth in its renewable energy commissioning in Q1FY26.
Tata Power said in a statement that last year, in the first quarter of FY25, it commenced multiple solar projects with a combined capacity of 354 MW; however, this year, the company commenced solar projects of 752 MW capacity in Q1FY26.
Wth the addition of the latest solar capacity in the Q1, Tata Power’s total renewable capacity has increased to 5.6 GW, says the company. Its total renewable capacity consists of 4.6 GW of solar capacity and 1 GW of wind capacity.
Managed under Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited, the company plans to add 1.7 GW of renewable capacity, owned by the company, and 1 GW of third-party projects to its portfolio.
Tata Power’s major projects in the year
In April, Tata Power signed a power purchase agreement with NTPC to develop a 200 MW power capacity. The project, consisting of both solar and wind capacity, is set to be developed in the next 24 months across multiple locations in India.
In the same month, Tata Power announced plans to develop a 131 MW solar and wind power capacity in a partnership with Tata Motors. The two companies of the Tata Group signed a power purchase agreement to supply the renewable energy generated from the projects to Tata Motors’ manufacturing facilities in Maharashtra and Gujarat.
Earlier in November 2024, Tata Power entered a power purchase agreement with Noida International Airport to supply renewable energy to the airport. The company said that it will develop 10.8 MW capacity wind power projects and 13 MW capacity solar power projects to fulfil the energy needs of the airport.
