RITES has emerged as the lowest bidder in the financial bid for a major infrastructure project floated by the Gujarat Urban Development Company (GUDC). This project is part of the ongoing development under the AMRUT 2.0 and SJMMSVY schemes for Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) in Gujarat.

Awaiting final nod for inspection agency appointment

The tender is for the appointment of a Third-Party Inspection (TPI) agency to oversee works related to Water Supply Schemes (WSS), Underground Drainage (UGD), and Sewage Treatment Plants (STP) across various urban areas in the state. RITES will handle this responsibility if awarded the final contract.

The final award of the order is still subject to scrutiny and evaluation. GUDC will carry out a thorough review of both technical and financial aspects before making a final decision.

Contract worth Rs 28.50 crore to run for 60 months

The estimated value of the contract is Rs 28 crore, excluding Goods and Services Tax (GST). The project will run for 60 months from the date of issuance of the Letter of Acceptance (LOA) or Notice to Proceed (NTP).

The project aims to improve urban infrastructure in Gujarat, focusing on water and sanitation facilities, as part of the Centre and state’s joint efforts under the AMRUT 2.0 programme.

Schemes driving the project

AMRUT 2.0 (Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation) is a central government scheme aimed at improving water and sewage facilities in cities. SJMMSVY is a Gujarat state initiative focused on urban development.

RITES has clarified that its promoters or group companies have no interest in the Gujarat Urban Development Company.

Established in 1974, RITES is a government-owned engineering consultancy company under the Ministry of Railways. It offers end-to-end services—from planning to execution—across various areas of transport infrastructure and related technologies.
