With over 1,500 maternity styles in clothing Flipkart, India’s largest e-commerce marketplace, has launched its maternity category today.
With this launch, Flipkart aims to become a go-to platform for all the new and expecting mothers – offering them an vast range of Indian and international maternity products and other essentials available on a single platform.
Ankit Nagori, SVP-Marketplace, Flipkart, said, “India has a high potential for the relatively untapped market of maternity and baby care products. With various international brands entering this segment, and India’s younger demographic opting for online shopping for all their requirements, we only see this market growing.”
Flipkart says Indian parents are looking beyond just pricing to value and more importantly, the convenience of a hassle-free shopping experience and teh company is looking to serve that rising demand.
The maternity products market has emerged as one of the most lucrative markets in India over a period of time. According to research and consultancy firm RNCOS, it is estimated to grow with a CAGR of around 17 per cent till 2017.
Ankit further added “This category also holds huge potential as the new age mothers are constantly looking for more and better options of apparels and essentials for their babies and themselves as parents.
