Dallas police reported a horrifying incident in which a 50-year old Indian origin man, Chandramouli Nagamallaih, lost his life after being attacked with a machete at a local US motel on September 10. The attacker allegedly beheaded him during an argument, in front of his wife and son.
The incident took place in front of both motel employees and residents. The Dallas Police Department stated that officers and paramedics were dispatched to the Downtown Suites, located on Samuell Boulevard east of downtown. They received reports of a violent attack around 9:30 am. Responders found Nagamallaiah with fatal injuries after being attacked multiple times with an edged weapon. He was declared dead at the crime scene. Video footage by the CBS News Texas Chopper showed the aftermath scene outside one of the ground-floor rooms, where a body was lying near a trail of blood. The area has been sealed off by the crime scene tape surrounding the motel.

He was known famously as ‘’Bob’’ among his friends and family. He was remembered as a gentle and hardworking man, a caring father, and a devoted husband.
Who is Yordanis Cobos-Martinez?
Authorities later confirmed the arrest of 37-year-old Yordanis Cobos Martinez, who has been charged with capital murder and is a Cuban national. As per jail records, his name also lists an immigration hold against him. As per the report, he was in the United States without proper authorization.
What led to the altercation?
A witness told a CBS reporter that both the victim and the suspect were employed at the motel. As per the Dallas police, the incident started from an argument between Nagamalliah and his co-worker, Martinez, over a broken washing machine at the Downtown Suites motel. Investigators mentioned that tensions escalated when Nagamallaih asked another person to help translate his instructions rather than speaking directly to Martinez. This reportedly angered the suspect, who then left to fetch a machete.
CCTV video showed Martinez returning with the weapon and attacking Nagamallaih. The victim tried to run toward the motel office, where his wife and 18-year-old son were present, but the suspect followed him and carried out the gruesome attack despite their desperate attempt to interfere.
