On this occasion, a French armed forces contingent will participate in the Republic Day parade and flypast alongside India’s troops and aviators. The visit highlights the depth of the strategic partnership between France and India. The primary focus of this State visit is to strengthen and consolidate the existing ties, as outlined in the “Horizon 2047 Roadmap.”
This visit holds particular importance as it coincides with the 25th anniversary of the France-India Strategic Partnership. Since its initiation in 1998, this partnership has witnessed substantial progress across various dimensions, including bilateral, regional, and international cooperation. What sets this partnership apart is its comprehensive coverage, addressing diverse aspects and underscored by a strategic component.
President Macron’s discussions with Prime Minister Modi will delve into key areas identified in the Horizon 2047 Roadmap.
Partnership for security and sovereignty:
The first pillar emphasizes security and sovereignty, showcasing the trust-based cooperation between France and India. This extends beyond defence, encompassing advanced platforms and technologies. Both nations have played a pivotal role in contributing to international peace and security, particularly in the Indo-Pacific region, where a joint strategy is in effect.
Partnership for the planet:
The second pillar addresses global challenges, including climate change, biodiversity loss, and poverty. India and France share a commitment to tackling these issues, evident in their active participation in global initiatives such as India’s G20 Presidency and collaborative efforts like the International Solar Alliance.
Partnership for the people:
The third pillar centers on people-centric collaborations, highlighting President Macron’s commitment to creating opportunities for Indian students, artists, investors, and tourists. The ambitious goal of welcoming 30,000 Indian students to France by 2030 underscores this commitment. The visit also aims to promote business ties under the banner of France’s “Make It Iconic” campaign, designating India as a priority country for economic and cultural exchanges.
