Weekends are all about down time. After a week full of work to meet deadlines, everybody needs some breather to relax and recuperate. From watching a favourite web-series to planning a vacation, weekends are designated as family and me time. Mayank Makkar, founder and CEO, Rivi, talks to BrandWagon Online about his weekends, favourite vacation destination and more.
What is the one thing you like to do when not working?
When I’m not working, I love traveling. Exploring new places, trying different cuisines, meeting new people, and hearing about their experiences are things I really enjoy.
How do you spend your weekends?
Weekends are for creative or independent work at my own pace, catching up on sleep, spending quality time with family and friends, lounging with a good show or movie, and occasionally playing sports like football and cricket for fun.
What are your favorite gadgets?
I enjoy using Oculus for casual gaming or workouts in VR, and I rely on my Apple Watch to keep track of my fitness and sleep.
Given an option to choose another career, what would it be?
If I could choose another career, I’d be a airector. I have a passion for creating things, and directing would allow me to channel my creativity in new and exciting ways.
Which is your favorite vacation spot?
I’m happiest anywhere there are beaches, but if I had to pick one place, it would be Santorini, Greece during the off-season. The serene beauty there is unparalleled.
A TV show, a movie, and an ad campaign you highly recommend watching
For shows, ‘Breaking Bad’ and ‘Silicon Valley’ are my all-time favorites. When it comes to movies, anything by Nolan is usually a win for me, particularly ‘Interstellar’ and ‘Inception.’ I believe Apple’s marketing and ad campaigns have always been top-notch and in a league of their own. I’m also an avid podcast listener—I love the ‘All-In Podcast’, and Nikhil Kamath’s new podcast is also a good one.
