Weekends are all about down time. After a week full of work to meet deadlines, everybody needs some breather to relax and recuperate. From watching a favourite web-series to planning a vacation, weekends are designated as family and me time. Sumit Singh, CEO and co-founder, DashLoc, talks to BrandWagon Online about his weekends, favourite vacation destination and more.
What is the one thing you like to do when not working?
When I’m off the clock, I have a few favorite ways to kick back and relax. One of my absolute joys is hitting the road and driving through scenic routes. There’s something about the freedom of cruising with the wind in my hair that’s just unbeatable. Plus, I’m a big foodie, so trying out new restaurants and tasting different cuisines is a total treat for me. And when it’s time to unwind at home, you’ll likely find me cosied up with a bunch of series and movies, diving into captivating stories and escaping into different worlds for a while.
How do you spend your weekends?
On weekends, I tend to strike a balance between relaxation and activity. I make sure to carve out time to catch up on my favourite TV shows – it’s my guilty pleasure! Cooking is another passion of mine, so I often whip up some of my favourite dishes, experimenting with new recipes and flavours. But I’m not one to stay cooped up indoors all day; I enjoy getting outdoors for some fresh air and exercise. Whether it’s a game of badminton or a strategic match of chess, I love staying active and engaged with friends or family.
What are your favourite gadgets?
When it comes to gadgets, smartphones are definitely at the top of my list. Their versatility and ability to seamlessly integrate into both work and leisure activities make them indispensable to me. Whether I’m checking emails, browsing the web, or simply staying connected with loved ones, my smartphone is always within arm’s reach. Another favorite of mine is fitness trackers. They help me stay motivated and on track with my fitness goals by monitoring my activity levels and keeping me organized with my daily routines.
Given an option to choose another career, what would it be?
If I were to explore another career path, I would likely gravitate towards education. I find great satisfaction in sharing knowledge and empowering others to learn and grow. Whether it’s teaching in a classroom setting, mentoring individuals, or developing educational content, I believe I could make a meaningful impact by fostering curiosity and lifelong learning in others. It’s a rewarding prospect to contribute to the intellectual and personal development of future generations.
Which is your favourite vacation spot?
My favourite vacation spots are definitely hill stations like Mussoorie and Shimla. The scenic beauty of these places is absolutely breathtaking, with lush greenery, majestic mountains, and crisp, fresh air that instantly rejuvenates the soul. What I love most is the perfect blend of relaxation and adventure they offer. Whether it’s leisurely strolls amidst nature, adventurous treks, or simply soaking in the serene surroundings, these hill stations provide the ideal escape from the hustle and bustle of daily life. Plus, the cosy weather and charming atmosphere make for a truly unforgettable experience.
A TV show, a movie, and an ad campaign you highly recommend watching
I highly recommend watching the TV show ‘The Family Man’ for its gripping storyline, intriguing characters, and stellar performances. It’s a thrilling espionage drama that keeps you on the edge of your seat with its twists and turns. For a compelling movie experience, I suggest watching ‘Shershaah’. This film offers a poignant and inspiring portrayal of the life and sacrifice of Captain Vikram Batra, a real-life hero. With powerful performances and heart-wrenching moments, it’s a must-watch for any cinema enthusiast. And when it comes to ad campaigns, ‘Daag Achhe Hain’ stands out as a timeless classic. Created by Surf Excel, this campaign beautifully captures the essence of selflessness and the joy of giving through simple yet heartwarming stories. It’s a reminder that even small acts of kindness can make a big difference in someone’s life.
