Approximately 60 flights faced delays at Kolkata’s Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport due to poor visibility caused by dense fog, an official reported on Monday. Low visibility procedures (LVP) were implemented from 7 a.m., severely affecting air traffic.

According to FlightRadar24, Kolkata airport reported as many as 3 cancellations amid dense fog and low visibility. Additionally, 71 departing and 41 arrival flights were also delayed at Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International airport today, as per the data available at 11:20 am. 

IndiGo Airlines suspended all departures and arrivals at the airport from 5 a.m. onward. As of 9:15 a.m., the situation remained unresolved, with 26 IndiGo departures grounded and 11 arrivals delayed or canceled.

Pravat Ranjan Beuria, the airport’s Director, confirmed that no flight operations occurred between 7:10 a.m. and 9 a.m. During this period, around 30 departures and 30 arrivals were delayed. Additionally, five incoming flights were diverted to alternate airports.

Efforts were made to assist stranded passengers in the terminal, Beuria stated. Visibility conditions began improving after 9 a.m., allowing flight operations to resume. The first arrival following the disruption was Emirates flight EK 570 from Dubai, which landed at 9:04 a.m.
