Akasa Air announced on Wednesday that it will be canceling two flights between Mumbai and Bengaluru until March 30, in adherence to government directives aimed at alleviating congestion at Mumbai Airport. This decision follows the airline’s earlier announcement on Tuesday, which outlined the cancellation of four flights on the same route from February 15 to March 30.
Impact on Flight Operations
The airline, which facilitates a total of 54 services (27 departures and arrivals each) to and from Mumbai, connecting to 12 destinations across the country, provided insights into the potential repercussions of the government’s guidelines on Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport.
Rationalizing Network to Mitigate Congestion
In light of these guidelines and their expected impact on flight operations, Akasa Air stated its necessity to rationalize its network, leading to the cancellation of flights QP 1374 (Mumbai to Bengaluru) and QP 1362 (Bengaluru to Mumbai) between February 15 and March 30.
Options for Impacted Passengers
Addressing the inconvenience caused to passengers, the airline assured various options for rebooking or refunds at no additional cost. Passengers affected by the cancellations can choose to rebook their flights for any date until April 15, 2024, or opt for a full refund.
Amidst these adjustments, Akasa Air remains committed to ensuring the smooth facilitation of travel for its passengers, while also aligning with government measures aimed at optimizing airport operations and enhancing overall efficiency.
