IndiGo on Tuesday night issued a travel advisory warning passengers of possible flight delays and schedule adjustments as dense fog is expected to impact parts of North and East India during the early morning hours of Wednesday. The airline said that the reduced visibility under misty winter conditions could slow down aircraft movements, resulting in operational changes in the interest of passenger safety.
In a post on X, IndiGo stated that foggy conditions were likely to lead to a “slower pace of flight movements” during the early hours. It also added that some services could face delays or adjustments. The airline highlighted that safety norms remain its top priority as winter weather conditions intensify across several regions.

IndiGo prepares ground team, advises early planning
IndiGo said its airport teams are fully prepared and working in close coordination to manage schedules, support customers and ensure smooth operations despite challenging weather conditions. The airline has advised passengers to travel early in the day to plan their journeys with additional buffer time and to check the latest flight status on its website or mobile application before heading to the airport.
The advisory also warned that fog could affect road traffic and could lead to slow movement and longer times for commuters. IndiGo thanked customers for their patience and continued trust, underlining that visibility is expected to improve as the day progresses gradually.
The airline advisory comes amid widespread fog conditions that have already started affecting flight operations in the national capital and surrounding regions.
Dense fog disrupts air traffic
Earlier on Tuesday morning, Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGI) in Delhi also issued its own fog advisory, informing passengers of possible disruptions in departures and arrivals due to reduced visibility. In a post shared around 6:06 am, Delhi Airport stated that flight operations were “steadily recovering” but cautioned that certain services could continue to face delays.
The airport advisor urged travellers to stay in touch with their respective airlines for accurate and timely updates on flight schedules. It also mentioned that additional ground staff had been deployed across terminals to support passengers and manage operations during the foggy conditions.
The situation has been further complicated by deteriorating air quality in the national capital. As per the real-time AQI data, Delhi’s overall Air Quality Index stood at 340 around 7 am on Wednesday, placing it in the ‘hazardous’ category. Dense fog combined with hazardous pollution levels has significantly reduced visibility during early morning hours.
