Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is presenting the Union Budget 2024 in the Parliament at the moment. She commenced her speech by saying that India’s economic growth continues to shine while the global economy is still in the grip of policy uncertainty.
Speaking in the Lok Sabha, Sitharaman stated that the government will focus on nine key priorities for achieving ‘Viksit Bharat’. These priorities include jobs, social justice, urban development, energy security, infrastructure, innovation and reforms.
In a significant agricultural initiative, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced that 10 million farmers will be introduced to natural farming in the coming years. She added that large scale vegetable production clusters would be promoted to increase output.
Besides this, the government will release 109 high-yielding, climate-resilient seeds for 32 field and horticulture crops.
