Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is presently unveiling her sixth consecutive budget. Initiating her address, the minister emphasised that the government assigns the utmost priority to four groups: the poor, youth, women, and farmers. She also addressed topics such as the economy, women’s participation in the workforce, PMAY-G, and the influential role of ‘youth power’ in sports, among other subjects.
Skill India Mission
Talking about the Skill India Mission during the Interim Budget, the Finance Minister said that as many as 1.4 crore youth were trained and upskilled under the Skill India Mission.
The mission places its emphasis on short-term and long-term training programmes for skilling, re-skilling, and upskilling. Through the mission, the government, with the involvement of over 20 central ministries/departments, is executing diverse skill development schemes nationwide. Additionally, she highlighted the presence of macro-economic stability and the positive performance of the country’s economy. The government’s commitment extends to achieving more comprehensive growth in GDP, governance, development, and overall performance, she further stated.
